33 Choices Every Woman Should Make

In a few days, I will celebrate my 33rd birthday so I’ve been taking time to reflect over all that I’ve experienced and learned thus far. Perhaps one of the best lessons life has taught me is that my choices are what shape my life. Over the years, I can see how my relationships, health, career, and finances improved as my choices improved. Although every woman has different goals, these are 33 choices I think all women should make to be happier, healthier, and more successful in their lives and careers. Choose to love yourself more than your desire to be liked, accepted, or validated by others. Choose to do what you know is in your best interest even when...

Breaking Generational Curses

Life hasn’t always dealt me the best cards, but I refuse to become a hurt person who hurts people. For as long as I can remember, my family life has been dysfunctional. Raised by a father who pretty much raised himself after losing both of his parents by the age of 14 and a mother whose parents were emotionally unavailable to her, I grew up socially awkward, feeling lonely and misunderstood, unsure of myself, and abandoned at times. While I know now that my parents did the best they could based on their own experiences, I am committed to not allowing the hurt passed down to them from previous generations negatively impact me and potentially affect my future children. Don't Complain, Use Your Brain

I realized some time ago that complaining is a complete waste of time. The time spent complaining about what you don’t have or what’s not going right could be better spent learning ways to fix your problems and improve your circumstances. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of people that desire more for their lives, but can’t seem to obtain it because they lack accountability, focus, and discipline. The hard truth is, reaching your goals and getting to the next level won’t happen by doing what you’ve always done. Sometimes, you’re going to have to do things you don’t enjoy and go places that aren’t familiar. I have not reached all of my life goals nor am I where I want to...

LOVE IS A SUPERPOWER

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 When I would read this Bible verse as a bitter and broken person, I understood it to mean that I should protect myself from people to avoid being heartbroken. Reading it now as a whole and healed woman, I understand it to mean that I should be careful of allowing my heart to grow bitter from uncontrollable life experiences. I have a lot of reasons to be bitter, but I make the choice not to be. I can make plenty of excuses for avoiding connecting with new people and building new relationships, but I choose not to. I can be a hurt person who passes my hurt...

Different Women, Different Goals

Have you ever seen someone accomplish something and immediately felt like you were failing or doing something wrong because you hadn’t accomplished it yet? Yeah, me too. Admittedly, several times. I really disliked feeling like that so I decided to change it. If there’s one lesson life has taught me, it’s that I have the power to control my emotions and change how I feel about things. If I don’t like something, I no longer sit in it or settle for it. I start exploring where those feelings are stemming from and determine what adjustments I need to make mentally, physically, and/or spiritually to not feel like that anymore. I am an over-achiever. I put a lot of pressure on...
