Just Keeping It Real

Over the last 3 days, I had the opportunity to both share my story and listen to the stories of 14 other women through Women by Choice Global's first virtual event, Sisters Sharing Stories, and it was an amazing experience. I ended each day with a full heart and feeling more connected to my sisters. If nothing else, it was more confirmation for me that I need to create and participate in more experiences like this. I came up with the idea for this event because my soul craves more genuine and honest interactions between women. Living in a society where interacting on social media has become the new normal in regards to human relations, I am personally over having...

Mental Health > Money

This past weekend, I got the chance to sit down and watch Whitney, a documentary film that was released in 2018 about the legendary Whitney Houston. Watching this documentary left me with so many emotions, mainly sadness that such an amazing woman with such a divine gift left the world at such a young age without receiving the healing she needed to leave the legacy she had the potential to. What stood out to me most, beyond the fact that she undoubtedly had the greatest voice this world has ever heard, was that in a world where so many think that fame and money will make them happy, those two things seemed to be the biggest factors that hastened Whitney’s...

5 Ways to Increase Peace and Decrease Stress

I’m noticing that the older I get, the more I’m making peace a priority. I’ve learned that while there are definitely outside forces that can impact my stress level (if I allow it to), a lot of stress can be avoided by making better choices and being more intentional about how I spend my time and energy. I started this year with two resolutions: 1) Do the best that I can in all things and 2) Surrender to God’s will. Committing to my New Years resolutions has increased my productivity and peace while simultaneously decreased my stress and confusion.  Continuously striving for self-improvement has allowed me to discover better versions of myself and achieve greater success in all areas of...

Building With the Right Tribe of Women

As I prepare to travel to Dover, Delaware to deliver the keynote address at the Women’s Wellness and Business Conference this weekend, I am reflecting on all of the things I’ve learned over the years while building and growing Women by Choice. Being asked to speak on the importance of building with the right tribe of women is right on time as I have recently come to fully understand just how important it is. When I started Women by Choice, I had a vision that I naively thought all women would see, appreciate, and be in alignment with. When I talked about Women by Choice, I would say that the network is for all women, not realizing how untrue that was. Believing...

It's Never Too Late to Choose Better

For years, I felt like my mother didn’t know me and I didn’t know her. The reason for that was lack of communication, but yesterday that changed. She came to visit me this weekend and along with spending some much-needed quality time together, we also sat down and had a long overdue conversation. In having this conversation, I realized just how different people’s perceptions of the same experiences can be and how a lot of family dysfunction can be resolved by communicating effectively.  As a child, I had certain expectations of my parents that they didn’t always meet. I, like many children, put my parents on a pedestal so when they didn’t show up in my life the way...
